angolano, denominado Jinongonongo. Uma característica essencial da linguagem do Jongo é a utilização de símbolos que, além de manter o sentido cifrado, possuem função supostamente mágica, provocando, supostamente, fenômenos &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a title="Paranormal" href="http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paranormal"&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;paranormais&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;. Dentre os mais evidentes pode-se citar o fogo, com o qual são afinados os instrumentos; os tambores, que são consagrados e considerados como ancestrais da comunidade; a dança em círculos com um casal ao centro, que remete à fertilidade; sem esquecer, é claro, as ricas metáforas utilizadas pelos jongueiros para compor seus "pontos" e cujo sentido é inacessível para os não-iniciados.&lt;br /&gt;Hoje em dia podem participar do Jongo homens e mulheres, mas esta participação, em sua forma original era rigorosamente restrita aos iniciados ou mais experientes da comunidade. Deste encontro participaram dois grupos de jongueiros da cidade e mais um de Miracema, município vizinho. A partir daí, o encontro passou a ser anual. Hoje, cerca de treze comunidades jongueiras participam deste Encontro.
